Abstract

With the introduction of Christianity in Igboland, people began to witness developments and neglect in certain areas. With the movements developed between the rural villages and the mission houses, people came to sell to the strangers or to answer the clarion call of the gospel and its accompanying material benefits. As time went on a few of the local people came to settle close to the mission stations to be better able to exploit the economic opportunities they offered. Christianity effected serious changes on indigenous Igbo societies. This paper therefore studies the effects of the activities of the missionaries in Igboland, taking into consideration there areas of exploits.
