QUESTION FORMATION IN ENGLISH AND NIGERIAN PIDGIN [NP]

Abstract

This work analysis of, question formation in English and Nigerian Pidgin was carried out to examine similarities and differences between formation of question in English and Nigerian Pidgin. The study derives its framework from Government Binding Theory, a theory that elaborates syntactic levels through the concept of movement. This research is a qualitative one, recordings, personal contacts and observational data were collected and analysed. The findings indicate that there is movement of elements in both languages though with significant difference.
